Mediterranean Gulls

As Cliff has already noted in his previous post, I was out in a friends boat in the harbour this afternoon and was surprised to see 4 adult and two first summer Mediterranean Gulls along with several Black headed Gulls and Kittiwakes. Also had at least 15 Manx Shearwaters within the harbour and three Curlew.
Four  different Med Gulls feeding just outside Fishguard Harbour this afternoon!

Goodwick Moor to Drim 10th June.

The path between the moor at the western end that runs next to the rugby pitch has now been extended right through to the Drim. At the Drim end there are a number of small pools which earlier on were suitable feeding for a small group of Spotted Flycatchers. Whether these are local birds or still migrants passing through will remain to be seen.

Barcud Coch x 10

A small movement of 10 Kites over Fishguard in a basically northerly direction in an hour & a half this afternoon is easily a day record for me. Possibly connected to a much larger movement in Cornwall today ( 18o + Nanjizal including a flock of 80 ), although apparently none seen from Skokholm or Skomer today.
In the Gwaun Valley at Lower Town earlier a Dipper seen & two fledgling Song Thrush were good.

Strumble Head (07 June 15)

4 Red Kites behind the house this afternoon for a couple of hours - looking beyond Good Hope.  Soaring and occassionally feeding down in cattle fields.

Earlier surprised to have two summer plumage Golden Plover fly past me and along the coast - I was by the old coastguard station.  About 2pm.

A kestrel for a knave...

Lovely morning visit to Strumble today with gorgeous wild flowers and even a few porpoises but star of the day was this female Kestrel

Strumble Head 1st June.

Braved an hour this afternoon at the head with Walrus but chose to watch from the car as to get out would have been madness. Lots of Manxies going through as expected but most surprisingly the Porpoises put on quite a good show a few times leaping clear of the water & a few good sized groups seen.
