Storm Petrels 24th June.

In less than perfect conditions the first visit of the year to Strumble for Richard, Wendy & Chris from the Teifi Ringing Group. In the relatively short window of oppurtunity 3 Stormies were trapped & a single Manx Shearwater, the groups first Manx at the site. A good start.

Raining Redstarts

The Redstarts around Llanychaer  must have had a good breeding season an hour walk around here this morning produced over twenty Redstart both adults and juvs,one female still visiting a nest hole with food.
This afternoon a Hummingbird Hawk Moth in the garden.

Outer Breakwater 23rd June.

An impromptu look on the breakwater with Walrus, fairly quiet as expected but a few butterfly species Common Blue, Grayling & a Skipper sp was interesting. As was the 3 Common Sandpipers.

Juv Redstarts

One of the pairs of Redstart at Llanychaer had fledged young  around today. Two pairs of Spotted Flycatcher  present in the area
At Rosebush Reservoir a pair of Tufted Duck  and three Great Crested Grebe also several Sand Martins feeding over the reservoir.

Blackbirds

A pair of Blackbirds seen around the garden have fledged at least one chick. Magpie & Jackdaw activity seems to be more prominent this year but fortunately the parents seem equal to it.

Spotted Flycatcher

Spotted Flycatcher present in the woodland at Llanychaer now for the past few days. Juv Blackcaps and Blue Tits are around in the woods.
